Many of our customers and friends already know: at Dahlberg we are celebrating. It all began thanks to Kjell Dahlberg, a yacht captain and Swede by birth, who, due to life circumstances, fate placed him in Majorca. In 1958 he had to transport a sailboat from Stockholm to San Remo and during that voyage the vessel broke down, having to make an obligatory stopover in Palma for repairs. Motivated by this stopover, he had to stay on the island for a year, during which time he met his future wife, a majorcan lady Rosa Coll. After some time in Sweden, the couple settled permanently in Majorca where they started a family and created their own company.
In 1974, with the vision and entrepreneurial spirit that characterized him, Kjell founded Dahlberg, a pioneering company in the repair and maintenance of yachts in Majorca, where the workshop was initially located in the centre of Palma. In 1980, his daughter Margarita joined the company. After training in England at the prestigious B&G factory, she became the first woman to obtain the company’s Official Technical Service certificate.
Ten years after its foundation, Dahlberg was incorporated as an S.A. and the company’s activity concentrated on the repair and installation of B&G brand electronic equipment. In 1989, the company was divided into two main areas: on the one hand, the electronics division, which also included the current technical director, Toni Lopera, on the other hand, the sanitation division. Later on, specialization in on-board comfort and safety at sea also became a priority.
An important turning point in Dahlberg’s trajectory was the achievement of ISO 9001 quality certification in 2003, making it one of the first companies in the sector to do so. This accreditation made it possible to standardize work protocols and gain in efficiency.
In 2006, the company moved its headquarters from the center of Palma to the Son Rossinyol Business Park, from where the company supplied products and services to many shipyards in Spain.
Fifty years have passed since Kjell founded his business in 1974. With her sights set on the future, Margarita Dahlberg is at the helm of the company, an example of a pioneering woman, an expert in the sector, who has been working in the nautical sector since 1980, as well as having represented and defended the sector as president of the Association of Nautical Companies of the Balearic Islands (AENIB).
Today, professionals with different profiles and roles linked to the technical, commercial, administrative, expansion and management departments, work to manage the great ship that is Dahlberg. A great team that has learned to contribute with enthusiasm and innovation to the evolution and constant improvement of the service that Dahlberg offers to its customers.
