The Balearic Islands are a community that brings a wide range of nautical events together, but, when the sport season comes to an end and the summertime starts, the long-length vessels take control of our waters, and it begins the season of the year where the competition becomes more charming and attractive than ever. This is the time when pro-am crews, made up of amateurs and professionals, have to give it their all and precisely calculate all their decisions since everything is taken into account: experience, technical knowledge, strategy, and gut feelings. Although a sailing yacht could have an excellent crew, if it is not in its best conditions and does not have the best electronic systems perfectly calibrated, it will not be able to cross the finish line claiming a place on the podium.
In order to be able to claim a place on the podium, it is necessary to have the best allies on board, and, regarding marine electronics, we can proudly state that we are specialists, and besides being official B&G distributors and other electronical brands, since 1984 we have offered a complete service: from supplying, installing and searching for any material or spare part, to perfectly calibrating the equipment to be ready for the most challenging race or just for a journey.
In addition to supplying the best products, Dahlberg relies on our technical staff, experts in advising and installing electronic systems. The team is captained by Toni Lopera, our technical manager, an experienced navigator with a wide reputation in the sector and good knowledge on the subject. “My years of experience on board large vessels help me to better understand the needs of shipowners, captains, skippers, and their vessels, as this is something I have experienced and touched firsthand,” states Lopera, who also highlights the importance of having a trustworthy person who could advise you in this area and who is familiar with the equipment, which is of high quality and needs a professional and precise assembly.
We do emphasise this since we do have some clients who, some days ago, took part in the Superyacht Cup Palma race, testing their competitiveness, their crews, and, obviously, their electronic equipment to get the most out of their vessels. At Dahlberg, we listen to our clients’ needs and supply them with first-class electronic equipment fully adapted to meet their needs.
Among the options B&G is offering and Dahlberg is providing, we want to focus on Hercules™ processor, optimised for race sailing. It has a system designed to provide a higher level of precision, more complete functions, and better connectivity to the most demanding sailors. It provides a global data management which offer very valuable real-time information and helps those on a race to make decisions that makes them to be highly competitive. To know the real data generated while navigating, it is essential to count on tools and accessories that allow the improvement and optimisation of the performance, as NEMESIS™ does with a smart-screen that allows you to define what data you would like to visualise and when and how you want to see it.
Now then, how is all this data collected? It is collected by using wind, direction, environment, movement, speed, and depth sensors, among others. There is an endless number of electronic equipment and accessories that will help you be more competitive.
After the Superyacht Cup celebration and, after checking in situ that the electronic systems we did install are still yielding results, the technical staff at Dahlberg is starting to get some vessels ready for another important event of the season on Mallorca, the 41st Copa del Rey MAPFRE.
