All year long, we dream about that idyllic journey, with that anchoring in the best small bay in the Mediterranean or with the perfect siesta slightly balanced by the rhythm of the waves. What a lovely time, right? But what if we add the sickening smell of sewage? Things change, right?
At Dahlberg, we know that sailing enthusiasts take advantage of any opportunity to go to sea with their vessel, which is why they must make sure it is in perfect conditions. But in addition to taking care of the sails, maintaining the engine, or cleaning the hull, you also have to take into account the maintenance of other areas, such as everything related to sinks and toilets.
At Dahlberg, we arespecialists in selling, installing, and repairing toilets. It is a key element since, especially in the summer many hours are spent on the vessel and, logically, the toilet is used more. Our guests are unaware of it, but shipowners, captains, and crew know very well that if all the elements are not maintained, they will have to trust that there is no blockage that could ruin the pleasant journey.
Our experience confirms that many navigators do not know exactly how many rinses can be contained in a black water tank, and the thing is that it depends on which toilet has been installed and its consumption. Besides Dometic and Sanimarin/SFA, Dahlberg is an official supplier of Adinet products, which avoid blockages and bad odours.
It is important to remember that, according to the current regulations, discharge of any kind of black, grey, or bilge water is totally forbidden in ports and before the first three miles close to the coast. The discharge of sewage must be carried out beyond 3 miles as long as the vessel is equipped with a crushing and disinfection system; otherwise, it would be necessary to navigate leaving the coast behind until reaching 12 miles, or more recommended is to make use of the available systems at the port facilities capable of sucking up and collecting black, grey, and bilge waters.
Dahlberg’s team is working to guarantee the maximum performance and safety in all sanitary facilities, ensuring the correct and efficient installation of all systems. Do not hesitate to contact us to inform you about any spare part or maintenance advice; hundreds of satisfied captains back us up, as well as our wide specialization and knowledge in sanitation systems.
In addition, at Dahlberg, we give you advice to navigate avoiding disgusting smells that the facilities installed in the bathroom of your vessel could be causing, not just by installing a toilet that meets your needs but also by informing you about which cleaning products you could use daily, about biodegradable toilet paper, or about specific products to clean the pipes and the grey water tank, thus avoiding blockages and the feared bad odors.
